No one wants an air conditioning catastrophe this summer. If the heat doesn’t get to you first, the bottom line on the repair bill will make you faint. In order to avoid such a disaster, it’s best to be proactive about inspecting the state of your A/C unit. Ideally you would get a tune-up during the Springtime months. However, the old saying “better late than never” sure is relevant if you’re worried about your air conditioning unit going out anytime soon. Here’s a quick overview on A/C tune-ups, including why they are beneficial and what to expect from a technician when he arrives at your home.

1: WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR

Once again, we want to let everyone know that you should be getting regular tune-ups before you see these warning signs. Being proactive can save you thousands of dollars in repair costs. However, there are a few specific problems that can remind you to call up a technician. If you notice that your air conditioner isn’t doing a good job of cooling your home, or is shutting on and off repeatedly, then it’s time to grab the phone! The longer you wait to have these things looked at only increases the risk of a real disaster.

2: WHY IT’S BENEFICIAL TO GET A TUNE-UP

One of the main reasons people avoid getting A/C tune-ups is because of the price tag. No one likes shelling out dollars for preventative care on their household systems. However, over time these inspections actually pay for themselves. Outside of stopping total A/C meltdowns – which lead to extensive repairs or even unit replacements – they also help ensure that your unit is running efficiently. This will be reflected in your utility bills, as the units will run cleaner and quicker leading to a reduced bottom line. In fact, your A/C system can lose 5 percent of its operating efficiency each year due to dust and dirt buildup. Remember to schedule those tune-ups folks!

3: WHAT TO EXPECT IN A TUNE-UP

When the time comes for your tune-up, it’s best to be prepared. With SameDay Heating & Air you can expect a few things to happen. First, one of our experienced technicians will check and adjust for the proper refrigerant level on your A/C unit. If the levels themselves are off you can expect up to a ½ lb. of refrigerant installed free of charge. From there our technicians monitor and adjust the airflow as needed. Specifically, they are ensuring that there is a proper flow being produced and a temperature drop is demonstrated as a result. Lastly our technicians measure the unit’s capacity and efficiency. This involves checking the thermostat and doing some safety checks on the unit as a whole. All things considered the few hours this takes can save you thousands of dollars down the road!
While we aren’t offering A/C tune-ups right now, it’s important to get ahead of the curve. Mark your calendars for this fall, and schedule a tune-up with SameDay Heating & Air to save money now, and for the future.
